Why Baku is India's next great wedding destination

Baku offers what Dubai, Tuscany, and Udaipur cannot combine: palace venues at sensible cost, a 3-working-day e-visa, sub-four-hour direct flights from Delhi, complete freedom on alcohol and music — and a fire temple built by Indian pilgrims for the most meaningful pheras outside India.

The venues

The Four Seasons and the Fairmont inside the Flame Towers anchor the city; the eighteenth-century Sheki Khan Palace and the Gabala mountains give a celebration its second act. All are within a country the size of a single Indian state.

The comparison couples actually make

Against Dubai: Baku wins on ceremony soul (Ateshgah), venue cost, and alcohol simplicity. Against Europe: Baku wins on visas, flight time, and winter weather that still feels romantic. Against home: Baku wins on novelty while staying close enough for grandparents.

The season

November to February and April to May align with India's muhurat calendar — and Baku's dramatic, mild winters photograph like cinema.
